I am a professor of political science at the University of Mississippi. I received my Ph.D. in political science at Emory University and bachelor's degree from Guilford College. Before joining the faculty at the University of Mississippi, I was an assistant professor at Texas Tech University for three years. In my research, I explore economic sanctions and air power. Different projects contribute to scholarship on international institutions (particularly the United Nations), interactions between national governments and opposition groups, the human consequences of military and economic conflict, and political methodology. I have a book with Oxford University Press -- Bargaining in the UN Security Council and have published articles in International Studies Quarterly, the Journal of Peace Research, the Journal of Conflict Resolution, Political Research Quarterly, Conflict Management and Peace Science, and International Interactions.
